in person - postural assessment
find your ideal neutral alignment based on how your body is designed
Service Description
During this posture assessment I will look at different areas of your body to see how they interact as a whole. I will be looking for shifts, tilts and rotations from your feet to the top of your head. It’s important for you to wear clothes on the tighter side so that I can see the subtle shifts your body may be making to stay balanced and find stability. I’ll look at how you stand from several perspectives; from the front, both sides and from the back because the body is so good at adapting we can’t always see misalignments from one view point. I’ll also watch how you walk to see if there are any patterns of tension that persist during simple functional movements. Within your comfort level, I will also use gentle touch to feel areas of tension in your body or specific spots you maybe having increased pain or discomfort in. We will discuss your current routines, activities you enjoy and any past history that may be relevant to your posture and how you move. I will take a few pictures of your current posture so that we can use it for future reference along with being able to make notions and show you what I am seeing…if that’s something you’re interested in. At the end of our session we will be able to identify a few of the most impactful areas of your body to focus on to work towards your ideal posture. This is typically done by adding stability or mobility to specific areas of the body. Lastly, I will give you a few options of movements specifically designed for your unique needs that you can do at home. We can discuss some ways these movements can be added into your current daily routines by tweaking your current posture in the simplest of ways. Keep in mind that your current posture likely to came to be as is over the course of several weeks to years and from the influence of a variety of factors, so a one time assessment likely will not “fix” all the things Rather, this comprehensive postural assessment will give you a ton of knowledge about your body alignment, how you move throughout your days, what to look out for and subtle ways to shift so that you can be on a path to feeling more comfortable in your body, no matter the situation.
